The Genie display shows code 28 with the message “ECM does not allow machine to function”. It is a blocking fault or a safety-related code: do not use the machine until the cause has been found and removed.

Effect on the machine: Engine will not start. Machine will not operate from platform.

Possible causes

  • Platform controls platform up/down slow speed function enable button fault, or is activated when the keyswitch is turned on.

What you can do

Switch the machine off with the emergency stop and switch it on again. If the code comes back, do not use the machine and call service.

Solution from the manual

Check for stuck function enable button OR test or replace the platform up/down slow speed function enable button.
