Genie GTH-5519 service: faults and error codes

A machine with an active fault code must not be used until the cause has been removed.
Most common Genie GTH-5519 faults
Will not lift or extend the boom, function locked
- Likely cause
- The stability control system is active (overload or extension), a low hydraulic oil level or an active fault code.

- Check the load and the extension against the load chart, check the oil level and read the code.
No drive, or a problem with the hydrostatic transmission
- Likely cause
- Low oil level, a drive sensor or controller fault, or the parking brake applied.
- Diagnosis / how to fix it
- Check the oil, release the brake and read the fault code.
The stability system blocks operation
- Likely cause
- Load moment or capacity exceeded, or a load sensor out of calibration.
- Diagnosis / how to fix it
- Work within the load chart; calibration of the system at a service centre.
Engine: will not start, stalls, warning lights
- Likely cause
- Fuel system and filters, glow plugs, sensors, DPF filter.
- Diagnosis / how to fix it
- Read the engine codes and check the fuel system and the sensors.
Leak or slow hydraulics
- Likely cause
- Worn seals, chafed hoses, contaminated oil.
- Diagnosis / how to fix it
- Check for leaks and the condition of the oil; replacement of seals or hoses at a service centre.
Genie error codes explained
Genie uses the on-board GSDS diagnostic system (Genie SmartLink). Codes are divided into DTC (a detected device or circuit fault) and OIC (an unusual operating condition, e.g. overload). On scissor lifts, DTCs are marked with a letter for the system type and a number; on boom lifts (Z and S series) there is also a two-digit flash code (red LED = source, yellow LED = type).
