The MT 1840 Privilege is a telehandler for jobs where the load has to be raised to 17.5 m or set down 13.08 m from the machine: onto an industrial building roof, the floor slab of a higher storey or a scaffolding deck. The carriage with 1,200 × 125 × 50 mm forks rotates through 126°, which makes precise pallet placement easier, and the 8,000 daN bucket breakout force means the telehandler can also be used for bulk materials.

Despite its long reach, the machine keeps compact dimensions: 2.50 m high to the cab roof (2.693 m with the beacon), 2.40 m wide and 6.27 m long to the front of the carriage. 4×4 drive, rough terrain tyres, 0.44 m of ground clearance and ±9° frame levelling allow it to work on uneven ground, and the hydraulic outriggers spread to 3.79 m. Its weight of 11,685 kg requires ground with adequate bearing capacity.

When choosing, check the load chart to EN 1459: at maximum outreach on outriggers the spec sheet gives a tipping load of 950 kg (the stability limit, not the permitted load), so heavy pallets are placed closer to the machine and the permitted load is read from the load chart. The hydrostatic transmission (H version) with 3 gears in each direction makes precise low-speed manoeuvring easier, and the maximum travel speed is 25 km/h. Compared with lower telehandlers, this is the choice when reach matters most.
