Code 21-8 occurs in machines: Genie S-40 XC.

The Genie display shows code 21-8 with the message “Pri Boom Up / Down Joystick — Shorted to GND”. It is a blocking fault or a safety-related code: do not use the machine until the cause has been found and removed.
Effect on the machine: Boom Up and Down functions will not operate.
Possible causes
- Circuit C164PUD is below 4.5 V or shorted to GND.
What you can do
Switch the machine off with the emergency stop and switch it on again. If the code comes back, do not use the machine and call service.
Solution from the manual
* Leave joystick in neutral position and cycle power. * If fault persists, check the joystick circuit with a voltmeter (see the service manual).
