What is the Genie S-40 used for?
The Genie S-40 is a classic telescopic boom lift with a platform working at heights of up to 12.2 m. A telescopic boom is at its best where horizontal reach matters (up to 9.65 m), for example over an excavation, a loading ramp, a green verge or the roof of a lower building. The large 0.91 × 2.44 m platform holds the operator with tools and materials, and 360° turret rotation and 160° platform rotation make it easier to position along a façade.
4×4 drive, rough terrain tyres and gradeability of up to 40% let it reach the job across an unsurfaced construction site or a gravel access road. The machine also reaches 0.97 m below the level it stands on, which is useful on embankments and quaysides. Its combustion engine (diesel or petrol/LPG, depending on the unit) means it works mainly outdoors; in halls good ventilation is required.
When choosing, note the transport dimensions: a stowed height of 2.49 m, length of 7.39 m and width of 2.30 m make transport and entry through property gates easier. In the stowed position the machine travels at 7.7 km/h, and with the boom raised at 1.1 km/h. When 14.2 m of working height is not enough, or a jib is needed to get around obstacles, a taller telescopic boom with a jib will be a better choice.
