What is the Genie S-45 used for?
The Genie S-45 is a telescopic boom lift with a jib at the end of the boom. The main boom extends the platform up to 11.18 m horizontally, and the 1.52 m jib (135° vertical rotation) lets you position the platform precisely at the end, at a cornice, eaves or a steel structure joint. Two people with tools work on the 0.91 × 2.44 m platform within the 227 kg capacity. It is a typical cherry picker for sheet-metal flashing work, façade installation, installations on façades and tree pruning.
The machine weighs approx. 6,930 kg and has 4×4 drive, rough terrain tyres, 0.32 m of ground clearance and 40% gradeability, so it is most at home on construction sites, gravel and compacted ground. The Deutz diesel engine (36.5 kW) lets it work away from a power supply; it is a machine for outdoor use. Before driving onto block paving, a ramp or a floor slab, check that the ground can bear the machine's weight.
When choosing, take into account the 0.86 m turntable tail swing: when slewing, the counterweight extends beyond the chassis, so next to a wall or in a traffic lane the work zone must be fenced off. For transport the jib folds under the boom, and the machine's length drops to 6.80 m. Among telescopic booms of similar height, the S-45 is chosen when the jib and the ability to lower the platform below the driving level matter. If a larger crew with heavier materials is to work on the platform, it is worth comparing it with the JLG 460SJ.
- Sheet-metal flashing and gutters
- Work under eaves using the jib
- Façade cladding installation
- Steel structure maintenance
- Work on quaysides and embankments
- Roadside tree pruning
