What is the Genie S-85 used for?
The Genie S-85 is a large telescopic aerial work platform for outdoor use: on building construction sites, on steel structures and bridges and on the roofs of extensive industrial buildings. A horizontal outreach of 23.3 m at a platform height of 25.9 m means the machine can stand far from the structure while the basket still reaches over the parapet or deep into the structure. The 1.52 m jib makes it easier to position the platform precisely at a detail.
The chassis, with 4WD, 0.40 m of ground clearance, rough terrain tyres and 45% gradeability, copes with an unpaved site, but its unladen weight of 17,237 kg requires load-bearing ground: before driving onto a floor slab, block paving or an embankment, their permissible load must be checked. When the turntable rotates, the 1.42 m turntable tail swing must be taken into account, especially next to a wall or a busy road.
When choosing, compare three parameters: height, outreach and overall dimensions. The S-85 is 12.20 m long in the stowed position and 11.60 m with the jib folded under the boom, which makes manoeuvring and transport easier.
