What is the JLG 860SJ used for?
The JLG 860SJ is a telescopic aerial work platform with an articulating jib, combining great height with precise basket positioning. The 1.83 m jib works through a range of +70° / −60°, the rotator turns the platform through 180°, and the turntable offers continuous 360° rotation. The operator can therefore approach a beam, services or a window from different sides without repositioning the machine, and the 0.91 × 2.44 m basket holds tools and materials.
The Deutz D2.9L4 Tier 4 Final engine rated at 50 kW (67 hp), 4WD and rough terrain tyres make the machine ideally suited to outdoor work. With 4WD it climbs gradients of up to 45%, with 2WD up to 25%, and the maximum ground pressure is 5.69 kg/cm². With a weight of 16,732 kg and 0.28 m of ground clearance, the access route should be compacted, load-bearing and free of deep ruts.
When planning the work position, take into account its width of 2.49 m, length of 12.19 m, tail swing of 1.42 m and turning radius of 3.81 m inside and 6.02 m outside. Compared with articulating cherry pickers, a telescopic boom achieves a large outreach more quickly, and the jib partly takes over their advantage, namely the ability to approach the target from above or from the side.
