What is the JLG M450AJ Bi-Energy used for?
The JLG M450AJ is a MEWP with an articulating boom and hybrid drive, designed primarily for indoor use. A platform height of 13.72 m and horizontal outreach of 7.24 m let you reach installations below the roof of an industrial building, steel structures or skylights, getting around racking, machinery and pipework on the way. The 1.52 × 0.76 m basket is convenient when installing longer components, such as cable trays or linear light fittings.
The advantage of the hybrid version is autonomy: the lift runs on batteries, and when they run low they can be recharged from the on-board combustion engine without looking for a power point. This works well in new industrial buildings without a power connection and on construction sites at the weathertight shell stage; recharging with the engine is best done with good ventilation. When planning access, take into account the weight of 6,700 kg and the transport dimensions of 6.45 × 1.75 × 2.01 m.
The M450AJ has the same working geometry as the fully electric JLG E450AJ; the difference is the power source. If work runs for several shifts in a row or overnight charging is uncertain, the hybrid is the better choice; for short tasks in clean industrial buildings with power available, the electric version is enough. 2WD drive and non-marking tyres point to work on level, hard ground such as an industrial floor.
