Code 52 occurs in machines: Genie S-60, S-65, GS-3384 RT, GS-3390, GS-4390, GS-5390, Z-45/25.
blocking fault
The Genie display shows code 52 with the message “Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor senses extra or missing pulses”. It is a blocking fault or a safety-related code: do not use the machine until the cause has been found and removed.
Possible causes
- The CKP and CMP sensors work together; if one is bad, the other one won't work correctly and causes the ECM to detect a fault. The ECM uses the signal pulses from the CKP and CMP sensors to initiate sequential fuel injection.
What you can do
Switch the machine off with the emergency stop and switch it on again. If the code comes back, do not use the machine and call service.
Solution from the manual
Check for shorted wires or poor terminal connections from the CKP and CMP sensors to the ECM OR replace the CKP or CMP sensor.
