What is the Haulotte HA18 PX used for?
The HA18 PX is a rough terrain articulating aerial work platform for jobs where the basket has to be brought over an obstacle and far to the side. The platform floor reaches 15.2 m, and horizontal outreach is 10.6 m. The 1.8 × 0.8 m basket takes a load of up to 230 kg, including people, tools and materials, which is sufficient for installation, painting or inspections on tall structures.
4WD and rough terrain tyres allow work on unsurfaced sites and on ground with changing surfaces. A weight of 8,050 kg and dimensions of 7.6 × 2.3 × 2.3 m mean that before driving onto a hall floor, a floor slab or block paving you need to assess the load-bearing capacity of the ground and the width of the gate. The combustion engine restricts indoor work to well-ventilated spaces.
The HA18 PX is chosen when continuous 360° turret rotation and a tighter turn (3.75 m outside turning radius) are useful; its twin, the HA18 SPX, has the same working height and outreach but is lighter and lower for transport. If the work is vertical, on a level floor and free of obstacles, a scissor lift is often a more sensible choice. When working over a busy area, it is also worth planning to fence off the zone under the basket.
